And so it begins...

Help me, Jeebus, I'm blogging! Never thought I'd see the day, but here I am. Why? As a way to keep myself accountable to my training for the Nike Women's Half Marathon and because I want anyone who has donated to my Team in Training fundraising to be able to keep track of what I'm doing and so they can see that I'm keeping up my end of the deal.

So, here it is in a nutshell. I'm a big, big girl. I've registered for the Nike Women's Half-Marathon on October 19, 2008. A half-marathon is 13.1 miles. I'll be training with other Team in Training participants, all of whom are raising funds to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We'll meet for runs a couple of times a week and be on our own the rest of the time to train. The "official" training hasn't started yet, but I've started a bit on my own.

I registered on Wednesday last week, simultaneously committing to team in training. Friday I went for a run (for me, running means jogging slowly, but that'll improve) of about 35 minutes. Saturday I swam for 30-40 minutes. Today I ran again for about 30 minutes before work.

Hopefully, if I keep at it, I'll be more ready for the official training program when it starts. That's the plan, anyway.

By the way, if anyone wants to donate to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and help me reach my fundraising goal, click on http://pages.teamintraining.org/snj/nikesf08/dmains.

Thanks!
